The Bachelor of International Studies, which combines the study of cultures and global society with the acquisition of advanced foreign language and communication skills and knowledge about global diversity and mobility, will equip you with transferable intercultural skills that are highly valued in today's globalised job market. Macquarie's world-leading Bachelor of Ancient History - the longest-running and broadest of its kind in Australia - allows you to immerse yourself in the culture and languages of the ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern worlds, both on campus and at archaeological dig sites overseas.

Entry requirements

For international students

To apply for an undergraduate program, international students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications:

  • A recognised senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification
  • A recognised university Foundation course
  • A recognised 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree
  • At least one year of a university degree from a recognised institution

English language requirements

  • IELTS Academic - IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent
  • TOEFL iBT - 83 (Reading - 13; Writing - 21; Listening - 12; Speaking - 18)
  • PTE Academic - 58 minimum 52 in each band, or equivalent
  • Cambridge English (C1A or C2P) - 180 minimum 169 in each band, or equivalent
  • Occupational English Test (OET) - (Reading - C+; Writing - C+; Listening - C/C+; Speaking - C/C+)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) - 115 minimum 110 in each band, or equivalent
