What will I learn?

Get extensive hands-on practice in mobile journalism and data journalism, along with news research, feature writing, audio journalism, video, photography, international reporting, ethics and media law.

Become a working journalist from day one as you experience the rush of meeting deadlines and complete specialist journalism training in your chosen elective.

How you’ll learn

Designed and taught by industry professionals, this course focuses on innovative practices and project-based learning. Small classes (25 or fewer students) feature personalised teaching that nurtures each student’s unique strengths.

You’ll work on real stories across all media platforms, both individually and in teams, and contribute to the national award-winning student-run journalism website Hatch.

Applicants with Recent Secondary Education (within the past two years): Secondary Education Applicants must have completed an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) equivalent qualification within the last two years. Applicants with Vocational Education & Training (VET) Study: To gain entry to the Bachelor of Business, VET Applicants must have completed a relevant VET qualification at Certificate IV level or higher within the last five years. All applicants must present evidence of their VET qualification(s) and academic results. Applicants with Higher Education Study: To gain entry to the Bachelor of Business, Higher Education Applicants must have undertaken a relevant tertiary qualification within the last five years. All Higher Education Applicants must present evidence of their qualification(s) and academic results. English Language requirements: IELTS Band Score: 6.0; Cambridge CAE Range: 52-57; Pearson Academic Range: 48-52; TOEFL IBT Range: 60-78.

The entry requirements for Macleay include qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12 with the required entry grade.
