What will I learn?

Data is an essential asset in many organisations as it enables informed decision making into many areas including market intelligence and science. In the major in Data Science, you will learn computational and analytical skill sets that stem from statistics and computer science, to manage, interpret, understand, analyse and derive key knowledge from the data. You will develop critical thinking about data and its use, a deep understanding of the core technical skills required and an appreciation for the context in which that data was collected. At the senior levels of study level and beyond, you will develop the ability to understand problems from many disciplines and place a data-driven problem into an analytical framework, solve the problem through computational means, interpret the results and communicate them to clients or collaborators. The Bachelor of Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics is a double degree that will provide you with solid knowledge of nutritional sciences and the expertise to pursue a career as a dietitian in a range of professional settings. You will complete degree core and junior elective units, an embedded Nutrition and Dietetics program including a major in Nutrition Science, and a minor or second major from either the disciplinary pool or the shared pool. Additionally, you will complete any elective units as needed to make up the required credit points for the course. After successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (minimum credit average), you will progress to the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics wherein you will complete a prescribed course of study comprising core units in nutrition and dietetics, a training placement and a research project.
