An understanding of human behaviour and the science that underpins it is relevant to a huge variety of careers such as those in criminology, forensic science, market research and computer programming. Knowing why people behave the way they do will give your career an edge.

Through this course, you'll get exposure to a wide range of fundamental psychological concepts, as well as to more specialised areas such as child psychology, neuropsychology, social and personality psychology, cognition and perception, and psychopathology.


This course provides an excellent foundation for those who wish to pursue a career in psychology-related areas.

It focuses on learning how psychological practice and theory are deeply rooted in scientific evidence and how that evidence is obtained through research.

Skills gained in the collection, evaluation and critical analysis of data will enhance employment opportunities in all fields and industries.

In your third year, you'll have the opportunity to gain relevant workplace experience in a professional or community setting that's relevant to psychology.


This program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and enables you to pursue further study in the profession of psychology or a higher research degree.


If you are interested in science and in particular how psychological practice and theory is rooted in scientific evidence. Also suitable for those interested in working with people and understanding people. Please note: In order to pursue a pathway to registration as a psychologist , students in the BSc Psychology need to transfer to the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) program subject to meeting transfer criteria. Continuation with the honours year is subject to meeting honours admission requirements. Should a student not meet the requirements, they will graduate with a BA or BSc of Psychology. After the fourth year, a further two years postgraduate training or supervised experience is required for registration as a psychologist.

Entry requirement for international students

Students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications: A recognized senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification; A recognized university Foundation course; A recognized 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree; At least one year of a university degree from a recognized institution.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed: senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC; one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification

IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent.
