This entry-level qualification is a stepping stone for individuals who want to establish their career in the automotive industry. Students will develop key foundation skills and knowledge related to the automotive industry. This includes learning how to perform a variety of tasks such as identifying basic automotive faults and inspecting and servicing brakes, cooling, steering, suspension, engines, drive shafts and final drive assemblies.
Students will develop their skills through practical and hands-on work in a simulated workplace environment. They will have the opportunity to undertake on-the-job work placement to apply their skills and start building their experience for a career in the automotive industry.

Identifying automotive faults
Servicing operations
Basic diagnostic procedures
Testing and repairing basic electrical circuits
Inspecting and servicing a range of mechanical components
