What will I learn?

The Certificate IV in Agriculture is designed for aspiring farm or station managers who want to use their passion and advancing skills to lead exciting agricultural operations.

You will learn the essentials of agribusiness and gain leadership experience in livestock production, cropping and pasture management. You will specialise in livestock, machinery or cropping and gain unlimited techniques to efficiently oversee workers, manage finances, plan farm operations and handle the pressures of managing a farm or station.

Our extensive industry partnerships enable you to learn in a real working farm or our Primary Industries Centre with experts in the field.

Through theory and practical course work, you will learn to:

Maintain work health and safety processes
Manage pastures for livestock production
Develop and implement intensive production systems
Plan and implement infrastructure improvement
Analyse and interpret production data
Sample soils and interpret results
Supervise work routines and staff performance

Build your experience and get practical skills in:

Recruitment, selection and induction of staff
Breeding, handling, transporting and caring for livestock
Supervise agricultural crop harvesting
Implement breeding and production systems
Budgeting and financial reporting
Chemical application and storage
Oversee administration records

​Livestock producers are using technology in animal breeding, nutrition and health, and to optimise production.
Crop yield continues to improve, due to significant growth in research and development investment in agricultural biotechnology and greater collaboration across industry, government and academia, as well as the emergence of “smart” farming and data analytics.
