What will I learn?

Learn a broad range of practical technician skills including setting up, operating and maintaining lighting, sound, vision and presentation equipment.

Course Notes

Students will typically complete the package of Certificate III in Live Production & Services, the Certificate IV and Diploma in Live Production & Technical Services for a total duration of 3 years.

Students will continue in the elected streams as chosen in the Certificate III:

- Construction

- Design

- Stage Management

- Technical

Students will work collaboratively in both their studies and productions with TAFE SA dance, acting and other creative arts students.

Included in the Live Production courses and course costs is the unit 'Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry' commonly known as a White Card.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a range of technical production jobs in the entertainment industry.

Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services (CUA40415)

This course prepares you for a career in the entertainment, performing arts, concert, film production, festivals and events industries.

You can choose one of the following study streams:

Construction (props, set, scenic art), design (props, set, scenic art, costume, and design), stage management (audio/sound, lighting, staging, props, stage management) and technical (audio/sound, lighting, and staging).

To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 5 core units and 11 elective units.

Incidental Fees: AUD $150; Students will need to purchase tools and work wear at a cost of approximately AUD $150. Cost will depend on the study stream chosen by the student. For students who have not completed the unit CUSOHS301A Follow occupational health and safety procedures (a unit within the Certificate III in Live Production & Services) or equivalent there will be an additional cost of approximately AUD $100

Entry requirements

For international students

  • Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Certificate III in Live Production & Services or equivalent.
  • Other entry: Successful completion of CUSOHS301A Follow occupational health and safety procedures (a unit within the Certificate III in Live Production & Services) or equivalence. This topic can be studied concurrently with the Certificate IV for approximately AUD $100.
