Aviation Australia’s Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) is designed to provide you with all technical and non-technical skills you will need to operate aeroplanes under the instrument flight rules.

Working with Mission Aviation Fellowship’s team of experienced instructors – you will gain your IR with instructors who have extensive flying experience and aviation industry knowledge to provide the most relevant and up-to-date instruction.

The training focuses on knowledge and skills for Instrument Rating certification by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under Part 61 Flight Crew licensing.

This course can be paired with the Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aero plane).

This course is delivered by Mission Aviation Fellowship on behalf of Aviation Australia.

  • AVIY0013 Conduct a 2D instrument approach
  • AVIY0022 Perform an instrument arrival and standard arrival route procedure
  • AVIY5024 Operate aircraft in the traffic pattern at night
  • AVIY5027 Perform instrument departure – non published procedure
  • AVIY5028 Perform instrument departure – published procedure (SID/SRD)
  • AVIY5033 Perform visual circling approach
  • AVIY5035 Perform a 2D very high frequency Omni-directional radio range instrument approach
  • AVIY5037 Perform a 2D distance measuring equipment global navigation satellite system instrument arrival
  • AVIY5038 Perform a 2D global navigation satellite system non-precision instrument approach
