To help you manage your transition to study, our flexible program allows you to customise your subject load – starting with one or two subjects part-time and building to full-time as your confidence grows. Alternatively, you can complete the diploma in just eight months studying full-time and start your chosen bachelor’s degree at the third semester mark.
Our Diploma of Legal Studies offers a direct pathway into the Bachelor of Laws at Bond, as well as business law, jurisprudence, and a number of double degrees that team law qualifications with studies in business, commerce, international relations and more. It is also an excellent launching pad for careers in business administration, legal administration, law enforcement and government administration.
The program offers an introduction to the Australian legal system, fundamental legal principles, and basic legal skills. You’ll examine elements of business and contract law and look at some of the legal and ethical issues confronting Australian society today.
A key benefit to starting your university studies with a diploma is the extra support Bond University College offers from face-to-face teaching time in small group classes to access to one-on-one tutoring, workshops and targeted study help through the Academic Skills Centre.
The Diploma of Legal Studies will be of interest to students planning a career where a knowledge of fundamental legal principles and basic legal skills will be of use, e.g. business administration, legal administration, federal, state or local government administration. It will also be of interest to students who have a general interest in the law as an area of study.
The Diploma of Legal Studies will teach students core skills to enhance their career prospects, whether that be a student fresh out of school or someone wishing to upgrade their qualifications. Some core skills covered include; familiarity with the fundamental features of Australia’s legal system, the principles of business law and contract law, contemporary legal and ethical issues confronting Australian society, communicating in groups, conflict resolution, problem solving, individual and group decision making, and an understanding of ethics, morals and cultural beliefs.
Successful completion of the Diploma of Legal Studies guarantees students a place in most undergraduate degrees at Bond University, with a possible 80 credit points credited towards their new program of study.

Students who have completed Year 12 in Australia or equivalent secondary studies in other countries.
English language proficiency requirements:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic Overall score 6.0 with no sub score less than 5.5
Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT): Overall score 60 (no scores below 19 in Writing, 16 in Speaking, and 10 in Reading and Listening)
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score 50 with no Communicative Scores below 42
