What will I learn?

Undertake research in a health and health services related topic under the supervision of an academic staff member in the School of Medicine.

Research may be supported across broad range of disciplines including rural and regional general practice; chronic disease management, health service evaluation, health and wellbeing, public health, medical education, and optometry.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have demonstrated evidence of a high standard of research ability. This is normally an Honors year to H2A (70%+) standard, a research master’s degree, or a coursework master’s degree with a substantial thesis. However, other evidence of research ability may be considered and could include a thesis as part of an international undergraduate degree; relevant refereed publications; research awards; or research experience. Other English Language Requirements accepted: IELTS: Overall 6.5, no band less than 6.0; TOEFL (PBT) score of 577 Writing 4.5; TOEFL Internet Based: 70 Writing 21; CPE: 176 no band less than 169; CAE: 176 no band less than 169; PTE score of 58 no less than 50 in each skill; OET: Overall B, with A or B in listening, speaking, writing and reading.

For international students

Applicants must have demonstrated evidence of a high standard of research ability. This is normally an Honours year to H2A (70%+) standard, a research master’s degree, or a coursework master degree with a substantial thesis. Applicants should hold either a bachelor’s degree with first class honours (H2A) or a masters by research degree in a field of study related to the subject of the proposed research, or other qualifications/research publications approved as equivalent.

IELTS: Overall 7 No band lower than 6.5; TOEFL IBT: 94 Writing 24; TOEFL PBT: 600 Writing 5; CPE: 185 No band less than 176; CAE: 185 No band less than 176; PTE: 65 No less than 58 in each skill; OET: Overall B (equivalent to a IELTS 7 - 7.5 range); DUELI EAP PROGRAM: EAP 4 (70%).
