Integrated PhD in Food Sciences & Technology program
The integrated PhD in Food Sciences and Technology offers graduates an alternative path to a doctoral degree. During your first year, you’ll receive intensive research training. On passing the components with a 70% average, you’ll begin an original PhD thesis, graduating within the standard timeframe.
Our expert supervisors will continue to support your study in our research focus areas. Your scientific research in advanced food systems will focus on improving sustainability of food production through innovation in industrialised and developing nations.
We offer food science and technology related research opportunities in collaboration with government, industry, not-for-profit organisations and other universities in Australia and overseas.

Entry into a research program (postgraduate study) requires completion of: an honours degree, or a masters degree by coursework with a research component, or an equivalent qualification from an approved university.
English language requirements
IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 79 (Listening 19, Speaking 19, Reading 18, Writing 22)
Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 58 (no section score less than 50)
University of Cambridge - Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 176. No individual band less than 169.
VU English - English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 6): Achieved
