Overview

This program aims to produce professionals who are skilled in the manipulation and interpretation of large amounts of data. It covers the foundational skills of data science as applied in computer science, economics and mathematics. It also includes programming, statistics and data systems. Completing these courses will give you a strong foundation and advanced knowledge in data science that are increasingly in high demand.

This graduate diploma is delivered fully online and features seven core courses and one elective which can be completed in 16 months. Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students must have a recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) with WAM of 65 or above as determined by the UNSW entry calculator. And must have a WAM of 65 or above in the 7434 Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology with full credit provided for courses successfully completed.

For international students

For entry into this program, you must have either:

completed the Graduate Certificate in Data Science with a WAM of 65 or higher
completed an undergraduate degree in data science or cognate discipline (e.g., computer science, economics, mathematics, statistics) and have sufficient data science background as indicated by an average of 65 or above across three Level III courses in mathematics and/or statistics and/or computer science and/or econometrics
completed a degree in a non-cognate discipline and have sufficient data science background as indicated by at least five years of experience in a data science or data analytics role.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
