What will I learn?

Our flexible Graduate Diploma in Surgery will allow you to pursue your interests and develop knowledge and skills in surgical specialty areas as well as non-technical areas such as professionalism, leadership and research. It can also help you prepare for the GSSE.

100% online course delivery

This course is offered through our interactive online learning environment, giving you the flexibility to tailor your study schedule around your lifestyle.

All stream specific units are online, with the exception of microsurgery.

You may find however; a couple of electives do have a face-to-face component. These can be avoided depending on your individual preferences.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

For international students

Admission to this course is on the basis of the following criteria:

A medical degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification;

Current medical registration in an Australian or New Zealand jurisdiction;

Current employment as a medical practitioner in and Australian or New Zealand hospital.

IELTS: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.5 in each band

TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 22 in Writing

Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 68 overall and a minimum result of 61 in each band

Application deadline: Jan/31 for Semester 1 and June/30 for semester 2.
