What will I learn?

Our Diploma of Surgery will allow you to pursue your interests and is designed to develop your knowledge and skills in surgical specialty areas as well as non-technical areas such as professionalism, leadership and research.Who is it for?Our course is designed for medical graduates, surgical trainees and surgeons who want to prepare for the RACS GSSE, enhance their CV for future career opportunities and acquire knowledge and skills that are valuable for an academic or teaching hospital career.Career pathsSurgeons have the opportunity to work in a range of settings, such as small regional hospitals and large metro public or private hospitals.Graduates may pursue careers in all areas of surgery specialisation and the program offers training for those interested in pursuing a career in academic surgery.Our course may also assist students who wish to pursue a higher degree by research, such as a Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy, as students will have a foundation of how to undertake research upon completing this degree.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to this course requires:

the successful completion of an embedded degree program (Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma) with a minimum credit average; or

a bachelor degree in a health or science-related discipline with honours; or

a bachelor degree plus a postgraduate degree in a health or science-related discipline; or

a bachelor degree in a health or science-related discipline; and

a minimum of 12 months relevant work experience.
