Kick start your career in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry with this practical, hands-on ICT qualification.

Get the skills and knowledge you need to undertake a wide range of generalist Information and Communications Technology (ICT) technical functions or choose a specialisation in one of the Support or Network streams.

This course will teach you the basic skills you need to work and communicate effectively in an ICT environment, implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices and participate effectively in WHS communication and consultation processes.

You’ll also learn to install and optimise operating system software, run standard diagnostic tests and create user documentation.

If you choose the Support Stream, you will gain skills in a range of technologies to provide first-level diagnostic support to people using ICT. In the Networking Stream, you’ll gain skills in a range of technologies to provide first-level networking support.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will be ready to seek an entry-level role supporting information technology activities in the workplace across a wide range of ICT areas, including technical support, network administration, web technologies, software applications and digital media technologies. You may also be interested in continuing your studies at TasTAFE and progressing to one of our Certificate IV-level qualifications.
