What will I learn?

About the course

The 16-subject Master of Commerce is for international students with an undergraduate degree from an Australian college or university or an equivalent bachelor's from another country. Your bachelor's can be in any discipline.

You can tailor this course to your career goals, with the option to specialise in Finance, General Management, Human Resource Management, IT, Marketing and Strategic Management. You will also learn fundamental interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques relevant for business.

What will you study?

You will study 16 subjects during this two-year program. You can either choose:

one or more specialisations

or select subjects from a variety of discipline areas.

Specialisations

You can undertake one or more specialisations from the list below. To complete a specialisation, you must complete four of the subjects listed against each specialisation.

If you successfully complete the Master of Commerce, you may receive credit for up to eight subjects towards the Charles Sturt MBA. You should declare your plan to continue on to the MBA when you enrol for the Master of Commerce, to make sure you take the correct subjects. If you don’t have an Australian bachelor’s degree in business (or equivalent), you will be required to pass the Graduate Certificate of Commerce before being admitted to the MBA program, with or without credit.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

You may receive up to 50% credit for previous studies completed at a postgraduate or equivalent level.

For international students

You'll need an Australian bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent bachelor’s degree from another country, to enrol on one of our postgraduate courses.

English language requirement:

If you’re applying for a postgraduate degree, you will need to have an Academic minimum overall score of 6.0. More specifically, you will need to have achieved a score of no less than 6.0 in the writing band and no less than 5.5 in all other bands.
