What will I learn?

Macquarie has always considered our students to be co-creators in their learning. One of the most exciting developments in our new curriculum is around your ability to study two degrees at once.

In this double degree, you will be able to combine:

  • Master of Commerce: A practical and flexible course, which is designed to meet employer needs, to help you extend your business knowledge making you highly employable in a wide range of careers. Want to develop depth in a certain business discipline? You can choose one or two specialisations under this degree.
  • Master of Media and Communication: Through engagement with innovative approaches and thinking, this course will empower you to comprehend and evaluate contemporary regional and global developments, and will equip you for an international career in diplomacy, journalism, the NGO sector, international business or academia.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Student must have: Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent; GPA of (5.00 out of 7.00) or (3.00 out of 4.00) or overseas equivalents; Recent successful completion of specified prerequisite units at tertiary level.

For international students

  • For Master of Commerce
  • AQF level 8 bachelor honours or graduate diploma qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, or
  • Meet two of the following three criteria:
    • AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent
    • Minimum of two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning
    • AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65
  • For Master of Media and Communication
  • AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent and a WAM of 65, or
  • AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent, and a minimum of two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning, or
  • AQF level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent with a WAM of 65, and a minimum of two years relevant approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning

The required standard of English for this program is:

Academic IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent.
