What will I learn?

This course is an ideal route to internationally recognised professional careers in accounting and finance, and prepares you to take the next step in your career in finance, banking and accounting.

The curriculum builds on a broad foundation of study in economics, accounting and finance, management, marketing and statistics. And equips you with the knowledge and training you need to specialise in areas such as auditing, costing, investigative accounting, taxation, financial advice, funds management, investment analytics, management consulting and more.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9.

Professional recognition

The Master of Financial Analysis/Master of Professional Accounting is accredited by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). Students are required to complete specific subjects in order to graduate with the CAANZ accredited qualification, please refer to the Handbook for further details. Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details. Graduates of the Master of Financial Analysis/Master of Professional Accounting may apply for membership with Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Membership may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details. Entry requirements

For students from United States

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent). WAM - Weighted Average Mark (WAM) 70%.

For international students

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).

Admission may be granted to applicants without an undergraduate degree but with five or more years of relevant work experience. In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors, including academic record, English proficiency and/or employment experience.

Selection criteria

Applicants with an Australian Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or an approved equivalent qualification may be eligible for credit for the four foundation subjects in Year 1. Applicants without an undergraduate degree but with a demonstrated minimum of at least five years relevant and cognate business experience may be eligible for credit for the four foundation subjects.

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0

TOEFL Internet based (iBT): overall score of 79 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing.

Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE): overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.

C1 Advanced: 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

C2 Proficiency: 176 with no less than 169 in any component.
