What will I learn?

The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences has established an enviable reputation for our teaching and research standards largely due to our high-calibre staff. In response to the demand for graduates with quantitative and analytical skills, we have a range of flexible degree options for students to tailor their studies. The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences is active in many areas of research. Our research groups in mathematics, physics and statistics attract funding from industry, the highly competitive Australian Research Council Grant schemes and other governmental organisations. Our researchers are involved with four of the University's Priority Research Centres and the School is home to the Centre for Optimal Planning and Operations (C-OPT), which provides a scientific and mathematical basis for the decisions that are made in many areas of business, industry and government. Our research publications have a strong impact, as indicated by high citation rates, and we have a particularly strong national profile in mathematics.
