What will I learn?

The Master of Science in Materials Science is a two year full-time (or equivalent part-time) degree that can equip you with the knowledge and skills in materials chemistry.Materials science is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary field that aims to understand the fundamental properties of materials. Materials science has broad applications across technology, healthcare, engineering and environmental science. At Australia’s top-ranking university, you will gain a broad understanding in the fundamentals and specialist knowledge to face the key challenges in the development of new materials including nanomaterials. You can apply this knowledge to address current global challenges, such as producing materials for renewable energies, battery storage, energy efficiency, tissue engineering, and environmentally conscious and biocompatible materials such as biodegradable plastics.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must present a Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a grade point average of at least 5.0-7.0 with at least 8 courses in a cognate discipline with minimum grade point average of 5.0-7.0 in these subjectswith the equivalent of an ANU minor in Chemistry and a minimum of 2 courses of undergraduate Maths and a minimum of 2 courses of undergraduate PhysicsThe GPA for a Bachelor program will be calculated from i a completed Bachelor degree using all grades and or ii a completed Bachelor degree using all grades other than those from the last semester or equivalent study period of the Bachelor degree The higher of the two calculations will be used as the basis for admission
