The Holmes MBA has the objective of teaching you how to think like a business person using advanced strategic thinking. The Holmes MBA will enable you to critically examine problems and opportunities using analytical frameworks such as risk assessments, cost-benefit analyses and strategic plans.

The Holmes Advantage

The MBA is designed to provide knowledge and skills embedded in contemporary business practice in an advanced course of study for both graduates and experienced managers. The course aims to develop graduates capable of generating strategic and creative solutions to problems in business and the public sector requiring a familiarity with interdisciplinary analysis. Graduates are in high demand in the public sector and small and large corporations in fields involving their initial expertise linked with accounting and finance, entrepreneurship, marketing or human resource management. Graduates may choose to set up small businesses as self-employed entrepreneurs. The course creates networking opportunities with cohorts of achievement oriented students and delivers strong return on investment for graduates.

The course has a strong focus on the skills and knowledge required to be a manager in the fast-paced business world of today and the future. Our faculty are academically well qualified with industry knowledge and experience in universities in Australia and overseas.

Course Structure and Content

The Holmes MBA comprises 12 units, taken over three study periods.

Students may elect to exit the MBA after two study periods having qualified for the Graduate Diploma in Business award, which consists of 8 units. Four core units must be completed plus four elective units chosen from anywhere in the MBA.

There are eight core units in the MBA as shown below. All students must complete these core units and then may choose to either complete their MBA with general electives in Business and Management, or complete a specialisation. The specialisations available in the Holmes MBA are concentrated in the following fields:

For students from United States

An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent); OR Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree (or equivalent) plus evidence of a minimum of five years demonstrable relevant industry experience. An English test score with minimum requirements as follows: IELTS Overall 6.0; OR PTE Academic Score of 50; OR TOEFL iBT Score of 60-78; OR Cambridge English: Advanced from Cambridge ESOL (CAE) Score of 169, OR Equivalent.

For international students

An Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent); OR

An Australian Graduate Diploma; OR

An Australian Graduate Certificate or equivalent plus evidence of a minimum of two years’ demonstrable relevant industry experience; OR

Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree (or equivalent) plus evidence of a minimum of five years demonstrable relevant industry experience.

An English test score with minimum requirements as follows:

• IELTS Overall 6.0 with no band score lower than 6.0 ; OR

• PTE Academic Score of 50; OR

• TOEFL iBT Score of 60-78; OR

• Cambridge English: Advanced from Cambridge ESOL (CAE) Score of 169, OR Equivalent.
