What will I learn?

Research in performing arts at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts covers a diversity of creative disciplinesThis includes electronic music and sound art historical performance practice especially early keyboard jazz and contemporary music dance and choreography physical theatre theatremaking acting directing scriptwriting dance health and motion capture applications We have an established record of leadership and success within practiceledresearch with many staff wellrecognised in the profession as well as academia The school boasts worldclass performance facilities extensive rehearsal and studio space Australias largest collection of historic pianos and state of the art laboratories for sound spatialisation and motion capture Specific postgraduate research topics are typically developed in conjunction with the postgraduate coordinator or potential supervisors We welcome applications from graduates and elite artistpractitioners across the gamut of the performing arts particularly those who aspire to innovation excellence and leadership within their creative practice and through their contributions to academic discourse

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants are required to have the equivalent of 6 months full time research (which must involve a research output which includes the conception and design of the project, and analysis and interpretation of findings) if applying with a Masters qualification other than a Master by Research.Academic admission requirements (Band 11) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:Masters Degree (Research); orBachelor Honours Degree (First or Upper Second class); orDemonstrated capacity to undertake original PhD-level research.English competency requirements:
