What will I learn?

Our Research Masters with Training is an 18-month full-time (or three years part-time) degree designed for:

Industry professionals seeking to extend and deepen their research expertise
Professionals and others interested in undertaking research relevant to their professional field
Those hoping to proceed to higher degrees but lacking in the conventional background.

You will be required to produce a thesis of no more than 60,000 words. When you graduate, you will be assessed and may be considered eligible for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidature.

Candidature for research degrees is offered in all Schools. Murdoch encourages research in interdisciplinary areas as well as in the basic disciplines.

For students from United States

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) or equivalent; Successful completion of at least two university units at AQF level 7 degree or above. Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS): overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT): 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based): 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); Pearson Test of English (PTE) - 50 with no band below 50; Cambridge Advanced English prior 52 with no section less than Borderline; Cambridge Advanced English after 169 overall with no band below 169 ; Occupational English Test (OET): OET with a minimum of C in the four components.

For international students

To be eligible for admission as a candidate for a Research Masters with Training (RMT), an applicant must: * have a Bachelor Degree in the same or cognate discipline (AQF level 7) and satisfy the Manager with evidence of professional attainments relevant to the proposed research discipline; or * have a Bachelor Degree in a different discipline (AQF level 7) and: a) have successfully completed a graduate course in the same discipline requiring at least one year of equivalent full-time study (AQF level 8); or b) satisfy the Manager of Graduate Research with evidence of professional attainments (of at least two years' full-time duration or equivalent) relevant to the proposed research discipline; or * satisfy the Manager of Graduate Research with evidence of significant scholarly or professional attainments equivalent to AQF level 8.

Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - IELTS overall score of 7.0 with no band less than 7.0; Cambridge Advanced English after January 2015 (CAE) - 185 overall with no band below 185; Pearson Test of English (PTE) - 68 with no band below 68; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT) - 94 with no band less than 24; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based) - 592 (Test of Written English not less than 5.0); Occupational English Test (OET) - (Post-Sept 2018) OET with a minimum of four B's (350-440) in each of the four components (Pre-Sept 2018) OET with a minimum of one A and three B's in the four components
