The University Certificate in Tertiary Preparation (UCTP) for Postgraduate Studies is designed to help you meet the English language requirements for a QUT postgraduate degree that requires an overall IELTS score of 6.5 for entry. During this one semester program, you will study one faculty unit while developing your:

  • academic English language
  • lateral thinking
  • research skills
  • presentation skills

This program will move you beyond vocabulary, syntax, and grammar, to cognitive, conceptual knowledge, and formal academic language.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a completed recognised bachelor degree.

IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with Listening, Speaking score of 5, Reading and Writing of 5.5; TOEFL iBT score of 71 with Listening score of 10, Writing score of 18, Reading score of 14 and Speaking score of 14; Pearson PTE (Academic) score of 50 with Reading, Writing score of 46 and Listening, Speaking score of 38; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 169 with Reading, Writing score of 162 and Listening, Speaking score of 154.
