Summary
In Humber’s Bachelor of Creative Advertising program, you’ll work hard. You’ll get a lot of depth and theory, but you’ll do even more hands-on work that puts that theory to real-world use. You'll build skills you never knew you had. You’ll have fun. You’ll meet life-long friends and creative collaborators who will become the core of your future professional network. You’ll mix and work with industry professionals, build a killer portfolio, and launch your career with a 14-week internship – probably at one of the better agencies in the country.
The Bachelor of Creative Advertising program is unique in Canada, providing a deep, 360-degree education in the key aspects of modern advertising: art direction, copywriting, account management and creative strategy. Over the four years of the degree, this allows you to discover your own particular creative strengths and identify your ideal career path, while working in industry-standard teams and learning how to develop powerful, effective advertising campaigns.
Work Placement
Work placements are 13 weeks and take place in the Winter Term of 4th year (January-May). Most placements are paid, and many of our students are hired out of their placements. As a result, the concluding Summer Term (Term 8) is fully online, to facilitate students continuing at their agencies. Summer term ends in mid-August. Students graduate in the Fall, following the Summer term.
Your Career
Our program allows you to develop and hone your strong creative skills, giving you the tools to work in a broad range of agency and corporate environments within the advertising industry. Working initially as an art director, copywriter or account coordinator, you may look forward to a career as a creative director or account supervisor or you can choose to pursue graduate studies.
Upon graduation, you’ll stand out from the crowd with a background that includes:
skills to create the concept, copy and design for all forms of advertising: print, radio, television and digital and emerging media
knowledge of agency and corporate advertising best practices, as well as perspectives on consumer and business-to-business advertising
proficiency using state-of-the-art equipment
a comprehensive portfolio developed through participation in student design competitions.
