What will I learn?

The graduate certificate in history offers training to students for careers as educators, researchers, and professionals in fields that value primary-source research, writing, and critical analysis of the past and present. The certificate serves as an option for students who do not yet meet admission requirements for the MA program. The certificate also offers a credential for students enrolled in the MA program who complete all coursework but are unable to (or decide not to) complete their thesis.

Identify the question you wish to address, its historical, historiographical, and methodological significance, and the sources you will use for research.Please also indicate which faculty members in the Department of History might superviseyour work. The Department uses this information to assess your ability to frame andresearch a historical question, and to assess the Department's ability to support yourproject.2. Academic Writing Sample:A sample of your written work (in English), preferably a senior paper or Master's thesis.3. Copy of your CV4. Unofficial transcripts for all post-secondary institutions you have attended. 5. Official transcripts only need to be submitted after an offer of admission has been made. This page contains the relevant instructions. Please read them carefully. 6. Three academic references. Reference letters in a language other than English must be submitted with an official English translation.
