Memorials Marine Institute offers three (3) degree options in the area of Maritime Studies. The degree of Master of Science in Maritime Studies (Safety: The Human Element) is a full- or part-time research-focused masters degree. This program is for students who demonstrate commitment and passion for the human element, safety, and survival in complex and safety-critical systems. It focuses on empowering students to conduct publication-quality research in human factors aspects of maritime studies.The degree of Master of Science in Maritime Studies (Public Safety) is a full- or part-time research-focused masters degree. This program is for students who demonstrate commitment and passion for public safety, broadly defined. It focuses on empowering students to conduct publication-quality research in areas of public safety and the training and wellness of people in public safety occupations.The Doctor of Philosophy in Maritime Studies is offered to full-time and part-time students. This program is aimed at those who want to participate in extensive and original research that generates new knowledge in the areas of human factors, safety, training, and survival in maritime environments and public safety spaces. Researchers will be equipped with a national and internationally demanded skill set that focuses on research innovation and design, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and science communication. Depending on the field of interest, a researcher may study the human factors that impact on safety and survival in maritime environments, or public safety, including training and wellness in public safety occupations.MSc – The MSc program involves courses and a thesis. Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for admission an applicant will normally hold at least a high second class Honours Degree (from areas such as, but not limited to, emergency management, engineering, kinesiology, maritime studies, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology), or an M.D. Degree, or the equivalent of either, both in achievement and depth of study, from an institution of recognized standing.

The minimum English proficiency test scores are as follows:

TOEFL: An aggregate score of 80 (92 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

IELTS Academic: An aggregate score of 6.5 (7 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

Duolingo English Test: An aggregate score of 115 (125 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).

CAEL - A score between 50 and 60 in each of four bands, with at least 2 band scores of 60.

MET: A score of 59%.

PTE Academic - Minimum scores of 58 in each of reading, writing, listening, and speaking
