Summary

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Take your career in finance global with a Post-Degree Diploma in Global Banking and Economics. In this one-year program, you’ll gain an understanding of the forces leading to globalization of the world economy and the opportunities these forces present.

You’ll study international financial management and international trade theory and practice, as well as microeconomics, macroeconomics, global business management and more. Once you graduate, you’ll be ready to launch your career as a foreign service officer, commerce and trade officer, or economic analyst.

Current trends in the finance industry have seen job openings not only in the world’s major financial centres (New York, London, etc.), but also in countries with burgeoning growth potential. Likewise, banking, brokerage and accounting firms need employees who are qualified for international positions.

Successful completion of 30 credits

70% (21 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College

Courses used towards a previously received credential can be used to meet program requirements, but additional courses will need to be taken to replace these credits.

A minimum Program GPA of 2.00 is required

Entry requirement for international students

Bachelor or Master degree with an average of C or equivalent

All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency by providing ONE of the following:

• TOEFL - Minimum score 83 IBT (minimum 20 in all sections) (Douglas College’s institutional code is 9568)

• IELTS - Minimum overall band test score of 6.5 (no band below 6.0) (Academic Module only)

• Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Minimum score of 56 (Academic Module only)

• International Baccalaureate (IB) English Language A (Standard Level) - Minimum grade of 3 or C

• Proof of undergraduate (bachelor) degree from a post-secondary institution where English is the language of instruction (in a country where English is the official language)

• Completion of the Douglas College English Language and Learning Acquisition (ELLA) Program
