The English-language master's program combines humanities, social sciences and economics perspectives. In addition to India-specific expertise, you will acquire a well-grounded knowledge of the basics, which will be consolidated in the integrated India stay. The subject of the teaching are social, cultural and economic phenomena of modern India. The program is supported by the interdisciplinary Center for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS).

The Master's program Modern Indian Studies consists of a four-semester course with a major. Created as an international degree program with students from around the world, the program is taught in English. 120 credits have to be earned for the degree, of which 78 are in the subject studies, 12 in the area of ​​professionalisation and 30 in the master's thesis. The Master's program "Modern Indian Studies" qualifies students for work in Indian and transnational companies, in development cooperation, in associations, in administrations and public authorities, in non-governmental organizations, in tourism as well as in media and communication. Entry requirement for international students

Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Indian Studies, in Ideology or various social sciences and humanities or in economics or geography with a total of at least 50 credits.

Sufficient knowledge in English must be proved by minimum achievements in an internationally recognised test:

a) UNIcert®: level UNIcert® III;

b) NULTE-Certificate: minimum level C1;

c) Cambridge English Scale: minimum of 180 points;

d) “International English Language Testing System" (IELTS Academic): minimum level Band 6.5;

e) “Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet-based test” (TOEFL iBT): minimum of 110 points;

f) Global Scale of English (Pearson Academic): minimum of 76 points;

g) Other certificate, minimum level C1 according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
