Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz popularly known as JGU is one of the largest universities in Germany. The University is home to over 33,000 students from 130 countries. JGU offers over 242 degrees across 75 diverse subject categories. With a strong focus on research, students and research faculty are involved in cutting edge research in over 150 research institutes that are a part of the University. The Cluster of Excellence on "Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter" (PRISMA), which is primarily a collaboration between particle and hadron physicists, and the Graduate School of Excellence "MAterials Science IN MainZ" (MAINZ) is considered among the world’s finest research groups.
