The master's program combines a clear theoretical and research orientation with the perspective of (quality) development of social pedagogical practice on the micro, meso and macro level of aid processes, educational and social systems. He broadens and deepens social pedagogical and educational scientific knowledge, he conveys expanded knowledge about quantitative and qualitative research methods, he enables independent scientific work, sets the conditions for the further development of the subject and prepares for a doctorate. The master's degree qualifies in particular for self-reliant management and planning activities. Particular emphasis is placed on the research-related professionalization of students in social education and the international orientation of the course.

Career prospects

The master's program qualifies students for demanding managerial and planning tasks in social work as well as in extracurricular and school-based education - in the entire range of CV-related forms of support. Graduates of the degree program find employment in early childhood education and social work organizations, universities and non-university research institutions. They are qualified for staff positions in charities, aid organizations and organs of educational and social administration.

Entry requirement for international students

A degree in an educational BA course or a degree in a neighboring subject. The selection committee decides which course of study is to be considered a neighboring subject after the application deadline.

The first degree must be completed with a grade of 2.5 or better. If there is still no final certificate on the application deadline, a preliminary performance overview can be submitted as an alternative. The grade point average achieved up to that point must appear from this performance overview, otherwise your application cannot be considered.

The language of study and examination in the master's program Research and Development in Social Pedagogy / Social Work is generally German. Courses and exams in individual modules are also offered in English; it is assumed that the students have sufficient English language skills. The master's thesis can also be written in English.

The application deadline has been set to June 15th.
