Summary

The Master of Education students in the Department of Economics receive a wide range of training within the subject and didactics.

The four-semester M.Ed. Degree in economics is based on the B.Ed. Economics of imparting in-depth knowledge of models, theories, methods of economics and their sub-disciplines (business administration and economics). The focus here is on the analysis of economic and business issues and the critical reflection of such problems in the context of economic education. The focus is also on the further development of subject-specific didactic expertise. The promotion of technical skills takes place in in-depth elective modules with a focus on economics and business administration and in a master's module in economics.

In addition, research-based learning is increasingly emphasized in the course of the course. The students deepen their didactic knowledge in the practical teaching units (subject didactics). In addition to the planning, implementation and reflection of teaching units for the subject of business, career and study orientation at the high school, aspects of competence and suitability diagnostics are at the center. In addition, the students increasingly reflect on their role as teachers, the role of the school in society and the social mission of the school and, in particular, business education.

Career prospects

With the successful completion of the master's program, the students can analyze business processes and economic issues comprehensively and assess different solutions with regard to their advantages and disadvantages as well as their effectiveness. You apply business and economic methods and theories and reflect critically on them. They are able to question their competencies required for this and to expand them in a targeted manner.

Students can plan, conduct and reflect on competence-oriented specialist classes. They receive research-didactic research results. They know the basics of performance diagnosis and assessment as well as crucial aspects of professional suitability diagnosis. Students can deal with both didactic and academic questions in a structured manner, communicate in oral, written and media-based form and present them in a way that is appropriate for the addressee.
