Associate of Science in Social and Public Policy Studies

What will I learn?

This area of Concentration Studies aims to provide students with theoretical training as well as the essential research skills in policy studies so as to enable them to critically analyse various policy issues in society. The broad-based training also enables them to continue their studies in social policy, government and public administration, sociology, Hong Kong studies or other related disciplines. Distinctive features include:

  • Aiming to raise students’ awareness of public affairs, social justice and welfare policies; giving students opportunities to study public policy cases that impact Hong Kong and nearby regions;
  • Learning to be administrators in social and public policy through practice of data collection and analysis, and other in-demand social science research skills;
  • Through professional seminars, workshops, visits and study tours to enrich students' learning experience, develop their critical thinking and broaden their horizons;
  • Participating in internship and community service activities to gain first-hand experience in a variety of related settings, including NGOs, government offices, school or policy research centres.
