What will I learn?

The aim of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Chinese programme is to develop students' independent thinking skills and broaden their knowledge, with particular emphasis on improving their Chinese proficiency and mastering the methods of literary research. This course covers literary research and professional writing. It not only focuses on literary research from multiple angles, but also emphasizes the writing and study of media and official documents.

Purpose

After completing this course, students should be able to achieve the following objectives:

1. Excellent Chinese writing and communication skills

2. Have a rich knowledge of Chinese

3. Have extensive knowledge of Chinese classical and modern literature

4. Be able to study Chinese literary works using interdisciplinary methods

5. Have good professional writing skills (including media and business writing)

6. Broad vision and logical thinking and analytical skills

7. Good command of English.

Entry requirements

For international students

One of the following:

  • A degree or a sub-degree awarded by a recognised post-secondary institution
  • Satisfactory completion of at least one year of undergraduate study at a recognised university
  • Satisfactory completion of at least one year of study leading to the qualification of associate degree / higher diploma or its equivalent at a recognised post-secondary institution

Entry requirements vary country by country.

In addition to the General Admission Requirements, applicants are also required to fulfill one of the following English language requirements:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Grade 4 in English Language
  • TOEFL: 550 (paper-based) or 79 (internet-based)
  • IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 in Academic Module
