What will I learn?

Programme Goals

  • Students will acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills required for managing a business.
  • Students will have in-depth knowledge and skills in human resources management and the business environment in Hong Kong with particular reference to the following areas: recruitment, training & development, compensation & benefits, performance management, labour relations, and management ethics.
  • Students will receive training in oral and written communication skills, and information technology skills.
  • Students will have the opportunities for developing analytical and critical thinking, and applying that to solve real-world business problems.

Curriculum

This four-year self-funded degree programme requires students to complete a total of 128 units, including 39 units of core courses, 21 units of required courses, 30 units of elective courses and 38 units of general education courses. Students with AD/HD qualifications will normally be admitted directly into the third year of study and complete the programme in two years. In this connection, students are required to complete 36 units of Core and Required Courses as well as 30 units of Elective Courses.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

High School Graduation Diploma with one of the following: SAT Qualifications: Minimum score of 1,190 (out of 1,600) in new SAT or 1,650 (out of 2,400) in old SAT (minimum score of 550 in each of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing), and a sub-score on essay writing of no less than 8. Advanced Placement (AP): Grade 3 in at least two AP subjects, American College Test (ACT): Minimum composite score of 23 in ACT. Associate Degree (AD): Successful completion of one year's study in a full-time AD programme at a recognised US university/ community college, provided that the duration of the programme should be at least two years in full-time mode. Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) in community colleges: Successful completion of IGETC with Grade C or above in each of the subjects. Applicants who apply for admission with overseas qualifications are expected to have received 12-year pre-university education with appropriate school-leaving qualifications. The following public examination results are recognized as meeting the English Language requirements stipulated by the University: TOEFL: Internet-based test (iBT) - Score: 79; or Paper-based test (PBT) - Score: 550; IELTS Academic: Overall Band 6.0; IGCSE First Language English: Grade C/ Grade 4; IGCSE English as a Second Language: Grade B/ Grade 5; IB: Grade 4 in: IB English a (Higher or Standard Level); or IB English B (Higher Level); or IB English Literature and Performance (Standard Level) OR Grade 5 in: IB English B (Standard Level).

For international students

Students are expected to complete all programme business prerequisite and General Education studies requirements in their AD/HD studies. Otherwise they may have to complete additional units of study to make up for the programme pre-requisite and the General Education courses at the College of International Education (CIE), Hong Kong Baptist University.

The following public examination results are recognised as meeting the English Language requirements stipulated by the University:

  • TOEFL: Internet-based test (iBT) - Score: 79; or Paper-based test (PBT) - Score: 550
  • IELTS Academic: Overall Band 6.0
  • IGCSE First Language English: Grade C/ Grade 4
