What will I learn?

The Biomedical Sciences major emphasizes the integration of basic fundamental knowledge in biomedical sciences with investigative skills and state-of-the-art technologies to enable students to understand the causes, diagnoses and treatments of human disorders and disease. The programme is designed to prepare graduates for employment in biomedical research, medical device and diagnostics, and biotech and pharmaceutical industries. Our unique industry-informed curriculum provides students with extensive exposure to medical laboratory technology and modern biotechnology, and applied research and clinical/industrial training opportunities through our strategic partnership with the healthcare and medical laboratory sectors and biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have obtained Grade E or above in three GCE A-level (or A2) / International A-level subjects. Two AS subjects are considered to be equivalent to one AL subject. The same subject cannot be counted at both the A Level and AS Level. English Language Requirements : Grade C/Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language or English Literature, or a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (Internet-based test), or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5.

For international students

Applicants are required to have 12 or 13 years of schooling (primary and secondary). To be eligible for consideration for admission, applicants should have attained the minimum grade specified, or where a grade is not specified, an acceptable pass. Entry requirements vary country by country.

Applicants who obtained their entrance qualifications in a language other than English will need an acceptable result in an approved English qualification. The following qualifications are accepted as proof of English language proficiency:

  • TOEFL: Minimum total score of 79 in the Internet-based test
  • IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 or above
  • Cambridge ESOL Examinations - One of the following: Grade C or above in Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE); Grade C or above in Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).
