Programme Aims and Objectives
The EdD programme is aimed at experienced educators and professionals in education settings who aspire to extend their expertise in a particular Specialized Area, and their professional knowledge in a broad range of educational contexts through core courses.
Upon the completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
Early Childhood Education
The early childhood specialization in the Doctor of Education is designed for professionals who want to enrich their career with a post graduate qualification that enables them to systematically investigate the field and embark on a research project with a notable practical and professional outcome. The courses are designed to support investigations in early childhood research in policy, pedagogies, curriculum and any other aspects of working with young children in formal learning contexts in local and international contexts.

Applicants should normally hold a Master’s degree in the discipline of education or a cognate field relevant to their chosen Specialized Area, plus four years’ professional experience. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high standard of competence in spoken and written English. Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a university where the programme was not taught and assessed in English are normally required to demonstrate competency through one of the following minimum English language requirements:
