Programme Aims
This programme aims to provide advanced education to nurture people who can:
1. contribute to the advancement of knowledge through independent and original research;
2. demonstrate specialist subject knowledge and a high level of transferable skills, including analytical, communication and leadership skills; and
3. enhance economic, social and cultural development.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)
Upon successful completion of this Programme, students should be able to:
1. apply a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of their research areas;
2. relate methodological and ethical principles to independently generate innovative research;
3. generate strategies to develop internationally competitive applied research in their fields of expertise; and
4. apply effective communication skills in relation to research.

Applicants seeking admission to a research degree programme should satisfy the following minimum entrance requirements:
Equivalent qualifications mentioned above include relevant professional qualifications or other scholarly achievements recognised by the University.
Applicants from an institution where the language of teaching is not English should satisfy the minimum English proficiency requirements specified by both the University and individual Colleges and Schools.
(Please note that individual Departments in the College may adopt a higher standard.)
