What will I learn?

The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing (MScEGM) is a Master's degree programme offered by the Department of Marketing, Hong Kong Baptist University, to be completed on a 15-month full-time study basis.

The programme is designed for students who seek a graduate education in order to advance into management and other leadership roles or to start a career as an entrepreneur. Applicants from all countries will be considered if they can demonstrate the necessary language skills.

Students can choose to study the whole programme in Hong Kong to obtain a single Master's degree. Or, they can apply for the double degree pathway to obtain two Master's degree, one awarded by HKBU and one by the Grenoble École de Management (GEM).

The curriculum has been carefully designed to embrace a global view with global case studies and a business project addressing the principles and practices of entrepreneurship and international marketing management. More importantly, under the double degree pathway, spending one semester in France and one semester in Hong Kong will generate synergies between two institutions steeped in the business practices of very different regions of the world. This will bring the best sort of global exposure to students.

  • Develop students’ understanding of marketing theory and practices to enable them to build and critically evaluate strategies that meet the business challenges of globalisation.
  • Develop students’ innovative thinking to address issues and problems arising in an organisation and in the social environment.
  • Provide students with a unique opportunity to experience high quality international education delivered by two research-led business schools, where they will interact with faculty and students from different cultures.

EMPLOYABILITY

The programme is designed for students who seek graduate education to advance into managerial and leadership roles or to start an entrepreneurial career.

In addition to starting a new business, the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing also aims to prepare students for careers as Project Managers, Business Developers, R&D Managers, and any managers operating in e-business and high-tech industries.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

A Bachelor degree from a recognized university, or equivalent. Although a bachelor degree in economics or related areas is not a pre-requisite for admission, the applicant is expected to possess the knowledge of microeconomics and macroeconomics, with some training in mathematics (especially in calculus and linear algebra) and statistics. Proof of English proficiency is required for applicants whose first degree were obtained from non-English-medium institutions. This can be fulfilled by obtaining a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 79; or a minimum of 6.5 in IELTS; OR other equivalent qualifications.

For international students

To qualify for admission, applicants shall normally meet the following requirements:

Applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits, in any discipline from a recognised university or comparable institution.

Fluency in English, either proof of English Medium of Instruction of the Bachelor’s degree obtained or one of the following English test scores:

  • International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS): 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in all components (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking);
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based (IBT): 90 (minimum score of 21 in all bands);
  • Cambridge Proficiency Exam (CPE): A, B or C;
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): 63 (minimum).
