What will I learn?

Programme Aims

The programme aim is to develop global hospitality managers with a regional awareness derived from first-hand business experience. While balancing the arts and sciences of hospitality, they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in a multicultural environment.

Characteristics

  • Students will learn from faculty with international background, be immersed in the culture and business practices of each continent, and attend numerous professional seminars.
  • Students will join a talented cohort from across the globe to develop their hospitable attitude and construct their management toolbox while enjoying an exceptional proximity to buoyant markets and industry leaders.
  • A particular high point will be the completion of a real-life consultancy capstone project assigned by our industry partners. Multi-cultural team of three to four students will be formed for each project.
  • Students will experience three world-class campuses and research centres and access three outstanding alumni networks. While gaining exposure to the latest trends in the hospitality and service industries, they will refine their career plans and shape their global perspectives.
  • Upon graduation, students of this exceptional programme will receive the MSc in Global Hospitality Business degree awarded by their home institution and a “Certificate of Completion” issued by the other two partner institutions.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree from an institution that is recognized by PolyU. In addition, you must meet the entrance requirements that are specified by individual programmes. PolyU may accept equivalent qualifications. The decision is made on an individual basis. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet based test or 550 for the paper-based test; OR An overall Band Score of at least 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

For international students

A Bachelor’s degree in the areas of hospitality and tourism management or in other disciplines with current or past employment in the hospitality industry for not less than one year.

If the applicant is a non-native speaker of English and his/her Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by an institution where the medium of instruction is not English, the applicant is required to demonstrate his/her proficiency in English by achieving:

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 100 (with 20 in writing) for the Internet-based test or 600 for the paper-based test; OR

An overall Band Score of at least 7 (with 6.5 in writing) in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Applicants may be required to attend interviews or tests to further demonstrate their language proficiency.
