What will I learn?

Programme Aims

This programme enables non-marketing graduates to connect theory with practice in the field of marketing. It covers a range of specialist marketing issues in areas such as online consumer market analysis, managerial issues in marketing, analytical methods for market research and global marketing strategy.

Characteristics

The programme provides an in-depth marketing context in which students have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in specialist areas of marketing activity. The breadth of the specialties can be strengthened through a wide range of marketing elective subjects. As members of the largest marketing faculty in Hong Kong, our staff pursue a full range of specialisations and research interests.

Programme Structure

Programme Details

To qualify for the MSc degree, students must obtain 31 credits as follows:

  • 4 Compulsory Subjects (3 credits each)
  • 6 Elective Subjects (3 credits each)
  • 1 Ethics Subject (1 credit)

OR

  • 4 Compulsory Subjects (3 credits each)
  • 2 Elective Subjects (3 credits each)
  • 1 Ethics Subject (1 credit)
  • the subject Research Methods (3 credits) and a Dissertation (9 credits)

Students may, on completion of 4 Compulsory Subjects and 3 Elective Subjects (21 credits), opt for the Postgraduate Diploma.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree from an institution that is recognized by PolyU. In addition, you must meet the entrance requirements that are specified by individual programmes. PolyU may accept equivalent qualifications. The decision is made on an individual basis. A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet based test or 550 for the paper-based test; OR An overall Band Score of at least 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

For international students

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic/professional qualifications. There is no restriction on previous background - business, engineering, social sciences, natural sciences; humanities, law and others are all acceptable;
  • Priority is given to those with relevant work experience.

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the following minimum English language requirement for admission purpose, unless otherwise specified by individual programmes concerned:

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet-based test or 550 for the paper-based test; OR

An overall Band Score of at least 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
