What will I learn?

Overview

This programme is designed to equip future accounting and finance professionals with the knowledge and skills to succeed. Accounting and finance are changing rapidly, with innovations and practice evolving to deal with the major challenges the world is facing. To excel in these industries, graduates should have strong technical knowledge, creativity and integrity. This programme develops your ability to contribute to business and society by using best practice methods in reporting, performance management, finance, sustainability, artificial intelligence and analytics.
The design of the programme features a strong core of modules on financial and ESG reporting, performance management and control, and finance.

Students can also develop their expertise in the following areas:

Accounting practice: Modules on taxation and auditing are available for those students who wish to pursue a career in professional accountancy.

Sustainable business and reporting: The core modules will develop student skills in sustainable reporting and business. In addition to that, students can build on that knowledge with a more advanced module on sustainable reporting and analysis.

Finance: A module on financial data technology is available in the summer trimester to develop student’s advanced finance skills.

Analytics and AI: The core modules will develop your business analytics skills. In addition to that, students can build on that knowledge with modules on AI and machine learning and financial data technology. This will enable students to contribute cutting-edge skills to their future employers.

Entry requirements

For international students

An honours bachelor business degree with a minimum 2.1 award at NFQ Level 8 (or international equivalent) AND

Applicants are required to have demonstrated strong academic ability (a 1.1 or 2.1) in at least one accounting module and one finance module.

A minimum overall score of 7.0 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version. The non-academic version is not accepted. The non-academic version is not accepted; TOEFL: A minimum score of 100 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (IBT) with a score of at least 20 in each section; Cambridge Examinations: English language examinations administered by the University of Cambridge: 185+ on Cambridge English scale (with no less than 175 in each skill and use of English). Acceptable Examinations: Proficiency Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2); Advanced Certificate, Grade C (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2); Pearson English Language Text: Minimum of 65 and at least 59 for each item. English Test for Academic and Professional Purposes (ETAPP): Grade C1 (i.e. CEFR Level C1 or C2); Trinity ISE: Trinity ISE IV (C2) with at least merit in each skill category.
