Bachelor of Science (Hons) Psychology International Medical University (IMU)

Course info

The final frontier is not space. It is the human mind.

Psychology, the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, is one of the most exciting disciplines of medical science. It encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects including biology, physiology, sociology, anthropology and statistics.

Contrary to popular belief, a psychologist doesn’t only work with ‘crazy’ people. Psychologists work in the diverse fields of business, sports, education and health where the emphasis is not on ‘fixing’ something wrong, but instead, enhancing what is right by incorporating evidence-based techniques and interventions to assist individuals reach their true potential.

The IMU Psychology Degree emphasizes learning in small groups for all students to actively engage and learn from the lecturers as well as from one another. Going beyond the scientific theories, students are challenged on the intricacies of actual practice by delving deeper into a topic. It is a process that adds art to the science of psychology.

Our graduates are in great demand with all of them gaining employment within 3 months after graduation, with many securing jobs before they even complete their internship – a testament to the quality of the teaching and learning in the IMU BSc (Hons) Psychology programme.

Career Pathway

Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. It has become one of the most important and widely applicable disciplines with its popularity being largely due to the discipline’s authority in unraveling some of the most frequently asked questions in our society, for example, why do people do the things they do?

Psychologists are interested in every aspect of human thought and behaviour which can be applied to promoting good mental health and rational behaviour in individuals and groups. They also administer therapeutic interviews and provide counselling. Psychologists are trained to conduct research and apply findings in order to minimize stress, as well as to reduce behavioural and psychological problems. Conducting psychological tests to identify the source of problems, analysing the results of these tests and determining the right treatment or therapy are also part of what psychologists do.
