What will I learn?

Animal cell biotechnology has become one of the major areas in life sciences. The discovery of technologies such as genetic engineering that includes cloning, recombinant DNA and gene transfer has lead to the development in animal cell biotechnology. The many applications of animal biotechnology include the production of new and improved pharmaceuticals; cell based assays and provides specialized animals for disease studies. Research utilizing the animal cells has contributed to developments in stem cell research for regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, gene expression study in animal cells, production of recombinant proteins, therapeutic products and viral vaccines, development in cell based assays for drug discovery and toxicity study. Research and development in this area will potentially contribute to production of biopharmaceutical products for medical applications.

Entry requirements

For international students

The applicant should possess:

A Master Degree (by coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or

A Master Degree by research in a relevant field.

For applicants with one of the following

550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or

Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or

79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or

Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or

Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
