About the programme

In this programme, you will acquire in-depth knowledge about legislation and governance regarding the internet, computers, mobile devices, persuasive technologies and ambient intelligence.

Programme overview

The Law and Digital Technologies Advanced Studies programme aims to cultivate diverse expertise on law and governance of the internet and digital technologies. Coursework will focus on regulatory theory (internet governance and techno-regulation) as well as national and international law (hard law, soft law and case law). You will take part in additional relevant projects, such as negotiating IT contracts and a cybercrime experiment. The programme is completed by writing a final thesis.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants need a BA or BSc degree (or equivalent) to be admitted to any of Leiden University’s master’s programmes. English-language proficiency: IELTS - 6.0; Toefl (internet based): 80 (component score: 20); Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE), or C1 Advanced (CAE): Cambridge component score of 169.
