What will I learn?

The three-year BSc Economics and Business Economics (E&BE) is entirely in English. You will learn how business experts and policymakers attempt to stimulate both corporate and general economic activity. The programme will give you the theoretical tools and analytical skills needed to address complex issues.

During the first year - the foundation year - all students take the same course units. In year two, you will either specialize in Business Economics, Economics or Economic Development and Globalization.

* Business Economics focuses on decision-making within an organization from an economic point of view.
* In Economics, you learn to develop models with which to obtain an understanding of economic phenomena.
* Economic Development and Globalization focuses on international economic development and globalization and its impact on firms’ strategies and government policies.

After finishing the Bachelor's degree, you can continue as a master's student at the University of Groningen.

Why study this programme in Groningen?

Economics and Business Economics is an internationally accredited programme, ensuring a high quality education that meets both the AACSB and EQUIS standards, which only one percent of universities reach worldwide.

Economics and Business Economics is a complete programme: you start with a broad foundation year in which basic economic theory and business issues are covered and then choose the profile that interests you most.

Job prospects

A Master's degree in Finance offers career opportunities in corporate finance, corporate governance, financial markets and portfolio management, with job opportunities at multinationals such as PwC, Google, Coca-Cola, or Toyota.

A Master's degree in Economics grants you access to the world of banking or the government sector, where you could help develop economic policy. A Master's degree in Economic Development and Globalization opens the gateway to multinationals, intergovernmental institutions or international organizations. All of these degrees could help you become an analyst for a research institute, consulting firm or university.
If you choose the Research Master's degree programme you could move into academia and perhaps decide to go further and earn a PhD at a university in the Netherlands or abroad.
Because all our programmes are EQUIS and AACSB accredited, a standard which only one per cent of universities reach worldwide, your degree will be highly valued in the labour market.
