Do you want to understand strategic management processes in relation to the dynamic and complex environment organisations are confronted with? During this Master's specialisation, you will learn to deal with various stakeholder groups, to optimise an organisation's strategy.

This specialisation offers you a multidisciplinary perspective on strategic management.
This Master's focuses on stakeholder management, responsible decision-making, intervention and change.
You will learn all about the turbulent conditions that influence an organisation.
In Strategic Management you can do a minor in Innovation, Networks, or Sustainability.

What will you learn?

In the Master’s specialisation in Strategic Management you will study the influences of the various stakeholders, strategy process in organisations, internal and external environment, and internationalisation. You will come to understand what influences the organisation’s ability to determine what key-issues it needs to address in its business and social environments to improve the performance of the organisation. In other words, you will become a modern professional that can make use of a scientific methodological framework to determine the best course of action that will give an organisation competitive advantage.

Career prospects

Master's specialisation in Strategic Management

As a manager and leader, you’ll be able to recognise the opportunities and restrictions presented by different markets and society, use analytical skills to identify relevant market and nonmarket strategies to cope with business risks and to respond to institutional and competitive pressures. After graduating, most Strategic Management graduates find employment as consultants, business analysts, financial controllers, policy makers, researchers and management trainee or managers in profit and non-profit organisations. A few go on to pursue a PhD in Business Administration.

Entry requirements

For international students

A Bachelor’s degree in a similar (or related) field from another research university with a fair number of courses in your preferred specialisation. Your degree must be equivalent to a Dutch Research University diploma. Ideally, your Bachelor's degree should cover the following courses:

Organisation Theory
Strategy
Marketing
Human Resource Management
Finance
Statistics
Quantitative and Qualitative Methods
Bachelor’s thesis of 12 EC

All other students need one of the following certificates (All certificates may not be older than two years).

  • TOEFL iBT: ≥ 90 & subscores ≥ 22
  • IELTS Academic: ≥ 6,5 overall. Subscores ≥ 6,0, writing subscore ≥ 6,5
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 proficiency: C or higher
