What will I learn?

The modern IT professional plays an important role in making a company successful. In this programme you familiarize yourself with the latest developments in ICT and you will learn how to translate them to added value for companies and customers.

What does this master’s programme entail?

The master's specialisation ICT in Business is designed to provide a flexible framework for graduate study in information management and is of particular interest to participants wishing to pursue a (international) business career involving both ICT and Management. You will analyse how ICT enables innovations in all business areas including marketing, operations, finance, strategy and IT itself. You will learn how to benefit from your Computer Science knowledge by applying this knowledge on a managerial level.

  • The ICT in Business programme is unique in the Netherlands and has a strong international focus. Besides students and lecturers coming from all over the world, there are several possibilities for studying abroad. Cross-cultural team work is required in a lot of courses.

ICT in Business: the right master’s programme for you?

Then ICT in Business and the Public Sector is the right choice for you. Besides understanding of typical Business and organizational topics, this master’s programme covers the interface between IT and Management.

With a master’s degree in ICT in Business, job opportunities are excellent and diverse, ranging from consultancy to IT management and from entrepreneurship to PhD research.

Acquired skills and competence

After graduating you will have excellent knowledge of fundamental Business understanding, ICT in complex organisations and scientific foundations. You will have developed skills and knowledge to contribute to IT strategies in large organisations and become the bridge between the general management and IT departments.

Career

Graduates of our programme are particularly well qualified for a career path leading to Chief Information Officer in a large organisation. Graduates have found jobs in all kinds of organisations; profit, non-profit, governmental, within or outside Europe. A master’s degree in ICT in Business is also an excellent Preparation to start a PhD track. Quite some students decide to become an entrepreneur.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants need a BA or BSc degree (or equivalent) to be admitted to any of Leiden University’s master’s programmes. English-language proficiency: IELTS - 6.0; Toefl (internet based): 80 (component score: 20); Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE), or C1 Advanced (CAE): Cambridge component score of 169.
