The Master's specialisation offers a large selection of courses, allows you to specialise according to your interests and includes interdisciplinary tracks.

The Mathematics department in Nijmegen excels in cutting-edge research and covers a broad range of research fields in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical physics. In addition to the training in modern mathematics you will develop a full range of transferable skills highly valued in all career paths. As a student in this Master’s specialisation you can choose one of the following tracks and select specialised courses according to your interests:
Pure Mathematics: covering the most recent developments in algebra, analysis, geometry, topology, number theory and logic.
Applied Mathematics: covering the modern theory and techniques needed to model and investigate phenomena in other fields of science.
Mathematical Physics: covering the frontier of the interaction between mathematics and physics, especially in general relativity, non-commutative geometry, and quantum (field) theory.

A completed Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related area
Entering the Master’s programme in Mathematics requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics that is the equivalent to a Dutch university diploma (this does not include a Bachelor’s from a university of applied science, in Dutch hbo; in German Fachhochschule). The Admission Office will determine if an international student has the required mathematical knowledge to be admitted.
A proficiency in English
In order to take part in this programme, you need to have fluency in both written and spoken English. Non-native speakers of English* without a Dutch Bachelor's degree or VWO diploma need one of the following:
TOEFL iBT: ≥ 90 + subscores ≥ 22;
IELTS Academic: ≥ 6,5 overall + subscores ≥ 6,0 + writing subscore ≥ 6,5;
Cambridge certificate C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: C or higher.
