This Research Master in Utrecht trains you to become a neuro, and/or cognition scientist, fully equipped to face the challenges of modern research in the interdisciplinary field of neuroscience and cognition. With ample knowledge of the scope of brain and cognitive functioning, you will be prepared to join an international research team investigating the most complex organ of our body. What you’ll learn

During this two-year Research Master’s programme, you will explore the fundamental principles and techniques of neuroscience and cognition. During the courses, you are grouped in multidisciplinary teams, together with students from various bachelor backgrounds such as Biomedical Sciences, Neuro- and Cognitive Psychology, Linguistics, or Artificial Intelligence. This provides you with ideal preparation for future research positions in public and private research institutes. After the 10-week introductory course Fundamentals of Neuroscience and Cognition, you will determine an individualized study path, consisting of high quality internships, electives and a writing assignment with the assistance of the track coordinator.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Applicants will be considered for admission to the Research Master’s programme in Religious Studies if you can demonstrate the following knowledge, insight, and skills: A relevant Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the humanities or in one of the social sciences; Proven interest in Religious Studies, as evidenced in a minimum of 30 EC in a relevant field at the Bachelor’s level; Knowledge of basic concepts in Religious Studies and insight into relevant methods; A high standard of academic achievement, as evidenced in an overall grade point average and a Bachelor’s thesis grade equaling “good” or better in the applicable national system. (Typically, Dutch grade 7.5; US grade B; ECTS grade C.) English language requirements: ELTS, Academic Module. Minimum score: 6.5 overall band, at least 6 for writing. TOEFL, iBT. Minimum score: 93 with at least 24 reading, 22 listening, 20 speaking, 17 writing (internet-based test), institutional scores are not accepted. Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, at least a B grade. Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, at least a C grade.

For international students

This Master’s programme is looking for excellent and motivated candidates, eager to become a specialist in the field of neurosciences, investigating numerous areas of brain functioning. You must hold a BSc in Biology, Physics, Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Pharmacology, Linguistics, Biomedical Science, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, sometimes even Astronomy or Mathematics, or equivalent.

Other English language requirements: Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, at least a B grade; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, at least a C grade.
